The genre of the opening two minutes which we (Fahmida Akther and I) plan on making is a Romance. This is because we find we are both attracted to this genre when we go and see films in the cinema, it is usually a romance.
Possible narrative events that will be revealed:
- A voice over
- The protagonist on her phone texting
- A tracking shot following her actions and thoughts
- A Christmas time (London)
- Focusing on female until the end of the two minutes where the audience is introduced to the male.
Problems which might occur with this idea is that weather and lighting is unpredictable during the winter which may affect the setting. Also, the streets could be to busy to film and some people may not want to be filmed. This might cause a problem because we would have to re-film parts which may affect the editing as the lighting would be different and the film might contain jump shots.
Plan B
The genre will remain a romance and might be from a males point of view of being single. In this, the male protagonist could be unattractive but likes a female at work. As she does not like him back, he chooses to have a make over to make him look different. This is a transformation to him as he will start getting female attention. However, he does not get the attention from the female protagonist and so he decides to confront her about his feelings but doesn't get the response he wanted.
The opening two minutes will include an unknown character which will be the male protagonist as this will engage the audience. There will be a close up of him picking up a mug and getting ready for work. Once he is ready, the camera will reveal the character. There will be an introduction voice over to introduce the character. This will give information about his personality and characteristics. This will make it seem like he is speaking directly to the audience, trying to attract them to him.
Plan C
The genre will be romance for this idea. We plan to do a female protagonist but on her journey to collage. She will have a voice over telling her story and her interests. This will engage the audience more because it will be like she is talking directly to them. She will talk about how lonely her life is and then will bump into the person she likes. He does not like her back at this point. The opening two minutes there will be the introduction to the female protagonist and the settings. The props that we will use is a school bag, a bus and a sixth form. This will allow the idea to be known because she will look like she is travelling to school.
